Success Stories

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS's is a key player in the defense electronic systems in Greece, participating in a great number of Greek and multinational defense programs. In parallel, INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS is achieving high levels of local added value and supports the Hellenic industrial sector by allocating a considerable number of contracts to local subcontractors.

The main defense programs where INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates are the following:


LEOPARD 2Hel Main Battle Tank

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the manufacture of the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Leo2 in cooperation with the German companies Krauss Maffei Wegmann, Zeiss Optronik and Rheinmentall Defense Electronics. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS is responsible for the manufacture of major electronic, electrooptic and communication systems of the vehicle. It should be noted that in the frame of the subject program, it is anticipated the transfer of know-how as well as the development of the specified infrastructure, that will allow the manufacture of the thermal camera for the first time in Greece by INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS.


PATRIOT PAC3 Long Range Air Defense Missile System

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the manufacture of the PATRIOT PAC3 system in cooperation with the US based company RAYTHEON. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS is responsible for the manufacture and integration of the ground electronics. By participating in the PATRIOT program, INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS becomes the only no-US based manufacturer of these PATRIOT subsystems and is expected to participate in the procurement programs of other countries.


ASPIS II Self-Protection Systems F-16 Aircrafts

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the Advanced Self-Protection Integrated Suite (ASPIS II) program of the F-16 Block 52+ aircraft, in cooperation with the US based company RAYTHEON. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS is responsible for the production and testing of major electronic subsystems as well as for the development of the control and test systems of these subsystems. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS's participation to the above mentioned program is anticipated to be expanded to the co production of additional units.


CROTALE NG Short-Range Air Defense Missile System

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the manufacturing phase of the CROTALE NG system in cooperation with the French company THALES. The company is responsible for the production of the main radar and turret subunits. It should be noted that INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS's participation has already been expanded to the manufacturing of systems regarding sales activities of the French company and are intended for the Armed Forces of various countries.


ARTHUR Artillery Hunting Radar System

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the Artillery Hunting Radar Location program ARTHUR WLS. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS in cooperation with the Swedish company ERICSSON MICROWAVE SYSTEMS is responsible for the production, integration and final testing of the production vehicle at its premises. It should be noted that ERICSSON has assigned to INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS the development of a new communication system for the ARTHUR WLS, based on the WISPR technology, which has been designed and manufactured by INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS.


U-214 New Submarines

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the U-214 new submarines program. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS, in cooperation with STN ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, is responsible for the production of parts of the battle management system.


Electronic Warfare Systems

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the Tactical Electronic Warfare Systems program. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS in cooperation with the Hellenic company SONAK is responsible for the production of major electronic systems as well as for the installation and integration of all electronic and electrical subsystems in the carrier vehicles.


HAWK Medium Range Air Defense Missile System

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the upgrade of the HAWK Air Defense missile program. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS in cooperation with the companies RAYTHEON and the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) is responsible for the manufacture of major components of the radar and launcher systems. Furthermore the company participates in the above-mentioned program in cooperation with the Nordic company KONGSBERG in the production of a part of the Fire Control Center.


NATO's AWACS Aircraft Modernization Program

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in the upgrade of the Early Warning AWACS aircraft under a contract with THALES BELGIUM. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS has undertaken development projects as well as the production, assembly and testing of electronic components for the aircraft's digital intercom system.


West European Armaments Group (WEAG) Programs

INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS participates in six West European Armaments (WEAG) programs (RTP 6.14, RTP 6.17, RTP 6.19, RTP 11.13, RTP 11.18, and RTP 13.1) that contribute to the transfer of information and the development of new technologies. INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS, in cooperation with other European defense industries, has submitted proposals for a series of new programs, currently in the evaluation phase, which are part of the European defense industry's efforts to promote cooperation initiatives and develop new alliances and technologically advanced systems.
