+++ INTRACOM completed and delivered the TAXISnet System
to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus +++
INTRACOM, in cooperation with the Department of Information
Technology Services of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus,
completed and delivered the TAXISnet system to the Ministry. The project
concerns the electronic submission of tax returns for Inland Revenue Department
and VAT Service of Customs and Excise Department of the Ministry of Finance.
The project involved the implementation of the system, training services
as well as operational support services (installation, technical operational
support).
The TAXISnet system enables the taxpayers to electronically
submit, via the internet, either their income tax returns for individuals
(employees, self-employed) and non-individuals (companies, partnerships),
which are monitored by the Department of Inland Revenue, or VAT, VIES
and Intrastat declarations which are monitored by the VAT Service of Customs
and Excise Department. Furthermore, the system allows the taxpayers to
track their tax returns after submission, as well as information services
related to taxation issues.
The implementation of the system has been based on the
most advanced and contemporary web technologies, by adopting the specifications
of J2EE platform (JSP, Servlets, EJB), and making wide use of XML technologies,
thus achieving high extensibility, interoperability and easy maintenance.
By launching the new electronic services, the Ministry
of Finance aims at establishing a modern communication channel with the
citizens, that will provide immediate, efficient and qualitative services
and information on taxation issues, as well as simplified procedures and
24-hour unremitting operation. The new system has been put in operation
since April 2004.
