+++ INTRACOM undertakes "turn-key" project for
Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo J.S.C. +++
Following an International Tender released by the fixed
telecommunications operator in Kosovo (PTK, J.S.C.), Intracom signed a
contract of total value €1,75 million for supplying, implementing
and putting in operation the "Extension of the DardaNET IP Backbone
Network".
DardaNET, as a PTK, J.S.C. business unit, was launched
commercially on March 2002 offering Internet and VPN services, to business
and residential customers, in the capital city and six (6) other major
cities of Kosovo.
Within the frame of the awarded contract, DardaNET's
objective is to extend its network infrastructure by upgrading existing
Points of Presence, as well as by introducing fifty (50) new Points of
Presence (PoPs), thus providing services to most of the regions in Kosovo.
The contract includes the supply of the required data
equipment and software, together with professional services for the design,
configuration, installation, testing and handover to PTK, J.S.C. of a
fully functional transmission network.
"Kosovo citizens and enterprises will benefit from
the services offered by PTK, J.S.C" (PTK) said Agron
Rrustemaj, the DardaNEt Director. "The infrastructure that
we are going to deploy is one of the most advanced and features the full
support of IP-based advanced applications. In particular, it will foster
the business of local companies. Moreover, this solution makes it possible
to keep OPEX under control, by increasing customer satisfaction, thanks
to the easiness of the introduction of new services in the market",
added Mr. Rrustemaj.
Mr. Manos Vassilakis, INTRACOM General
Manager, Telco Business Development, underlined: "Undertaking
this project is in line with INTRACOM's broader strategic orientation
towards empowering its dynamic presence in S.E. Europe, where the company
mainly focuses its activities".
Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo J.S.C. provides
telecommunication services to its customers and employees. As the only
licensed company in Kosovo to provide telecommunication services it is
