Athens Information Technology (AIT) is presenting important achievements in Greek research and innovation at the international exhibition IST 2006. This year's most important European event in the field of Information Society Technologies will coincide with the launch of the EU's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development.
IST 2006 takes place from 21-23 November 2006. The event is organized within the framework of the Finnish Presidency of the European Union by the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Information Society and Media, the Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry and Tekes, and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology & Innovation.
The theme of IST 2006 is on the strategy of leadership and aims to help achieve Europe's innovative potential in developing and rolling out ICT.
AIT participates in IST 2006 with a booth and a special event at which it presents innovative technologies in health, safety and security. These technologies have been developed in-house by the research groups of AIT and concern the application of infuse intelligence in the spaces where we live, work, entertain, learn or take care of the sick and the elderly. They are advanced technologies which facilitate our daily lives that remind us of science fiction movies but will provide us with a higher quality of lifestyle and security in the future.
At this event, AIT also introduces the most successful, exciting innovative technology projects awarded to it by the EU. Specifically, the Autonomic and Grid Computing Group of AIT demonstrates integrated prototype services for smart working spaces as they were developed within the framework of the European funded project CHIL.
AIT will be represented extensively at the event by its Research Director Mrs. D. Prevedourou, and by several members of its faculty Professors I. Tomkos, L. C. Polymenakos, C. Papadias, S. Efremides, S. Tsekeridou, T. Dimitriou, F. Talatzis and G. Hazapis. Prof. L. C. Polymenakos is also an invited speaker at the Belief Networking session of the IST 2006 event and will speak on Technologies for Smart Spaces.
